MONTGOMERY, Ala. (April 15, 2007) – Sometimes, the weather just won’t cooperate, and for the scores of drivers in the ADRL, a left-coast conspiracy theory has been suggested, citing three rain-outs in the past four events for the outlaw Pro Modified drag racing series. Josh Hernandez, driver of the Dr. Moon’s Rage ’57 Chevy Bel Air, was hoping to win a double header this weekend, as the Shelor.com Motor Mile Spring drags was to be the completion of the ADRL 2006 World Finals as well as an event in itself.
Hernandez won two rounds in the rain-delayed ADRL 2006 World Finals before Mother Nature once again stopped racing and forced the postponement of both events. In racing Friday night, Hernandez won the quarterfinals of the World Finals, 3.87/191.65 over Bobby Booth’s 4.22/135.25, and then beat Brandon Pesz in the semifinals, 3.94/188.71 to 4.04/174.96.
Hernandez is scheduled to race Dwayne Watkins for the Pro Extreme crown at the upcoming Camp Motorsports Georgia Drags in Valdosta on May 4 or 5.
“Sometimes, even the best made plans just don’t come out the way you want, and although we had wanted to win two races this weekend, and I know we have a car that can do it, the weather just didn’t cooperate,” Hernandez said.
“This is our third final-round appearance in the ADRL series without a win and though it has taken over 6 months to get to this one, we are anxious to seal the deal and take home an ADRL win for AMS-RAGE Racing," he said.
