Hernandez and Dr. Moon's Rage team ready to defend the Indy crown

CLEREMONT, Ind. (August 29, 2007) - For the past two years, Josh Hernandez has driven his Dr. Moon's Rage to the finals at drag racing's biggest event - the Mac Tools NHRA US Nationals, and this Labor Day weekend he is planning to make it three when the AMS Pro Mod Challenge returns to action in its seventh event of the season.

Looking to repeat his win of last year and defend his US Nationals title, Hernandez knows it will take a team effort to get past the stellar cast gathered to vie for the crown.

"Last year, Howard [Moon, crew chief] and the guys were completely on their game, and it showed in the final results. If we want to repeat, we're going to have to do it again, because we definitely have a target on our backs for this one. Everyone wants to win Indy," Hernandez said.

If the Conroe, Texas resident repeats at the event, he will be the first two-time US Nationals winner in AMS Pro Mod history - and repeating wins has been a theme for Hernandez this year. He has piloted the Dr. Moon's Rage '68 Camaro to the winner's circle five times so far this season.

"There's no doubt this has been a storybook season for us, but I have to say to put this one on the mantle is something extra special. This is where the very best Pro Mod racers gather, and this is the one to win.

"To be handed a trophy in the winners circle at Indy is more than just winning a race, it's like a full-color page in history. This is the big one, the 'Big Go,' and I'm definitely amped up to do it again," he said.

Racing is scheduled to begin with qualifying at 5:15 p.m. Friday, August 31, 12:30 and 4 p.m. Saturday, September 1, and 2 p.m. Sunday, September 2. Eliminations begin with the first round at 5:10 p.m. Sunday evening and continue Monday, September 2 some time after 11 a.m.
