Heritage funnies coming to Vegas (1 Viewer)

Glad to hear NHRA is going to have a dozen Heritage class funny cars in an actual competion at the coming Vegas meet. After the fiasco at Pomona a couple of years ago I’m surprised but happy to see it. Qualifying for an 8 car field and 3 rounds of racing.

I think this is a good move, but not sure it should be an actual "Eliminator" format, as in actual competition. As Fred said, when a few of these cars (TF and FC) ran Exhibition-style at Pomona during a National event a few years ago, instead of running nice, easy, but crowd-pleasing passes, several of them oiled the track trying to rotate the earth. Bad, bad move. It delayed the racing and just generally pissed everyone off. Drag racers will be drag racers - yes, I know - but these guys need to just entertain the fans and leave the track oil downs to Bakersfield and other Nostalgia-specific races. Otherwise, it could be 2 strikes and they're out - for good.

And I think all parties know what they're getting. They knew then and they know now.

For the record, Pomona has a tighter program schedule due to the curfue. LV has no such issues.

For what it’s worth, I much prefer the ‘Legends’ branding then ‘Heritage’ or ‘Nostalgia.’ I feel like that could resonate a little more with the average spectator.

I agree “Legends” would probably resonate better with the crowd but I personally equate “Legends” with tribute cars. Most cars in the Heritage class are unique branded rather than a clone from the past
