Looks like the V and H bunch have opened the throttle to 3/4. Kinda think that bike could run in the low 6.70's at 200+ with the leash off. So when do the great unwashed get a chance to buy that combo?

It sure is a good thing NHRA allowed them to have the 4 valve heads! What a joke.

I could be confused, but didn't Matt Smith set the record with a Suzuki at a 6.86 before Andrew reset the record today? It looks like the Harley's are outperforming field from the 330 to half track and they are caring the faster half track speed the rest of the way down the track. Congrats to the Vance and Hines teams for working hard on their new engine combination. If I were them I would hold back until the Countdown, then unleash the full potential of the new combo. If they start outperforming the field I would expect to see extra weight heading their way.

IIRC Matts run was under ideal conditions and even he said it was a one in a million pass. We'll see what criteria is used by NHRA to determin if baggage needs to be added-I seem to remember they used quailifying numbers last time the adjusted things.

They are still sand bagging... I ran Andrew all 3 pass's and he would roll off in the lights.. No 1/4 mile speed. We made a damn good pass in q3. We might could have ran 1 hundreth quicker but thats it... They I was 3rd on the backhalf the 2 harleys were 1&2 and andrew outran me 2.7 hundreths just down the backhalf... In our class thats about 25 to 30 ponys more... And they still haw more left. I know NHRA was hurting for money this year but I guess Harley gave enough to get what they wanted... I think it is a joke to let them run this new motor... The old **** was fast enough.... Go back to that old **** if you want to impress us.. I could go on and on but I have to go to the track.... No way the existing rules should let them have that much power in reserve.

Hahaha, throttle stop motorcycles. I wonder how that tastes to all the sportsman class haters. I can see Drew and Ed looking over at 1000' blipping the throttle to ensure only a 1 wheel victory.

Now that the cat's out of the bag, look for Harley to get magically .05 slower for the next race or three. After Indy, all bets (and throttle stops) are off.

While we are talking bike, can someone PLEASE send Karen Stoffer to Frank Hawley's for a little tweaking. It is getting frustrating to watch of the best financed teams race like leakers on Wednesday night TnT.

So...uh....when can I get a billet 4 valve belt timed 3000cc monster from my local Harley dealer? I didn't see it in one of the gazillion catalogs Harley wastes its money on.

The same day you can buy a 500" Chevy, Pontiac or Mopar at your local dealership.

MY quibble about the V-Twins (all of 'em) has to do with the erroneus perception that is perpetrated by NHRA that a V-Twin bike is equal to a 4-cylinder inline on the drag strip.

Have you ever heard an announcer at an NHRA race give a brief explanation to the crowd of how much extra weight per cubic inch the Japanese bikes have to carry, in Pro Stock Bike, compared with the Harleys?

I haven't.

They talk about these things like a bike is a bike, with no mention of the tremendous handicap NHRA had to saddle the 4-cylinder bikes with just so the V-Twins could have a chance to win.

Just once, I'd like to see them tell the crowd how one-sided the race would be if they all carried the same weight per cubic inch.

I am not holding my breath...
