Happy Happy Joy Joy

I am sort of second guessing myself. I saw the tail end of a race (then the cars were in the shutdown area) on ESPN3, and it looked like Shawn (must have been him, it was an AJR suit with what looked to be an Al Anabi themed helmet) congratulating Antron. It looked like it was the final, or perhaps they were announcing who was going to be in the final. But later on, Drag Race Central said Shawn won. So if I spoke too soon, I have egg on my face. Could be DRC was wrong, but I doubt it.

A popular win I think. Was headline on Autoweek this morning.

PS: Agree the Knuckle Sandwich signage could have been (A LOT) better,

PPS: I didn't realize Guy Fieri was a pal of Brandon Bernstein - I used to think (several years ago) they were twin blondies.

I thought it was awesome for AJ and his team. And the "knuckle sandwich"....:D...great theme to have with a nice "insert your favorite international sign language here" to Al Anabi. It was kind of hard to read but everyone looked OK with it.

Hell I didn't even notice, I just thought the car was temporary just black.
But I was multitasking so didn't give it 100%

The Knuckle Sandwich signage was almost unreadable on TV. Don't know how it looked from the stands, but I would imagine not much better. The ghost look is cool on a hot rod, but maybe not so much for a sponsor logo. None the less, it was cool to see Guy Fieri out there.

Well...a lot of people are saying it was hard to read or unreadable....but everyone knows what it says....so maybe mission accomplished? :)

Funny, maybe it's because of the little bit of racism I carry (we all have a little) but I couldn't have cared less about the success of Alan Johnson's teams last year with Al Anabi......(I was pulling for Del though in 2012). Now, this year, I'm so excited to see that single car team go out there and kick some butt. Maybe it's because they are no longer a "mega team". Just one car. One team.

With what's going on in the world, you would have to be totally out of touch (or die-hard liberal) to not harbor some feelings against a team that was funded by a country in the ME. I didn't hold it against the owners or racers who have to look for funding in this bad economy, but I didn't root for the team as much as I had in the past. If Dixon had stayed as Langdon's teammate, things would have been different for me. I also cringed when Hot Rod Fuller went to YAZ Raceway to help them out over there.

I don't find it racist to be glad that AJ's team is back (with a knuckle sandwich!) with good old AMERICAN backing

There might be some notes shared with Kalitta JMO

Funny, I had kind of a different take. I thought it was great to see people in other parts of the world joining in the same kind of game we enjoy. (Think: Nixon's Ping Pong Diplomacy in China).
Certainly our relationship with the Middle East is uh-hem "complicated" and hard to tell who's a friend, ally or, at least, someone we can do business with. And, yes, I was happy to see a "big bucks" and enthusiastic sponsor. It was good while it lasted and - contracts notwithstanding - I hope A.J. came out of the experience ahead-of-the-game or at least not in-a-hole financially.
