RADFORD, VIRGINIA--Matt Hagan and crew departed this morning for O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis, Indiana to compete in what is being called the oldest, richest, and most prestigious drag race in the world.
This weekend's NHRA MAC TOOLS U.S. NATIONALS promises to be a challenge for Hagan, as he will continue to run his IHRA-legal TORCO ACCELERATOR 1963 Split-Window Corvette.
"It was a tough decision for us to make," explained Hagan. "We know we could be at a disadvantage running against a field of two-step and 456 gear cars. We had to weigh that against making a big change in the setup we've had great success with lately on the IHRA circuit."
Hagan ultimately decided to stick with what is working for the team. "We're going to do what we know we can do well and be as competitive as we can," said Hagan. "It would be a dream come true for us if IHRA would standardize to the AMS specs for next year, but that's a long way off and it is what it is for now."
Hagan will take the Pro Modified qualifying lanes on Friday at 5:45 PM with eliminations beginning on Sunday at 5:10 PM. For results as the become available log on to NHRA.com. For more information log on to Matt Hagan Racing.com.
