Hagan Has His Sights Set On Nitro Funny Car

CHRISTIANSBURG, VA--Matt Hagan Racing will embark on a new mission for the 2008 and 2009 seasons, with a new car, a new teammate, and a whole new level of competition.

"I've made no secret about wanting to move up," said Matt Hagan regarding his decision to move up to a Nitro Funny Car in 2008. "I love Pro Mod, but I've always had a goal of driving a top fuel car." Matt was recently licensed in Nitro Funny Car in Las, Vegas and is ready to begin his transition to a new echelon of competitive drag racing. "I want to thank Tim Wilkerson who treated me great during the licensing process in Vegas," said Hagan.

Matt will get his chance to drive a Nitro Funny Car in 2008 and plans are for him to team up with veteran TORCO Nitro Funny Car driver Dale Creasy, Jr., who is a 2-time world champion (2006 and 2007).

"All of this has been made a reality because of TORCO and Evan Knoll, and their relationship with us and the sport," said Hagan. "Dale is a TORCO driver, a great guy, and probably the best person anyone could ask for to be a teammate to a rookie driver like myself. I'll be learning a lot from him in 2008." Hagan went on to explain that Knoll has had "The largest impact on Drag Racing in the history of the sport, and has done nothing but open doors for drivers like myself."

Hagan will continue to fly the TORCO red and black in 2008, but will be doing so from behind the wheel of a much faster car. "Between Tim Wilkerson and Frank Pedragon's former teams we have purchased everything we should need to get started," said Hagan.

Our priority will be full-time IHRA Nitro Funny Car competition along with some select NHRA Nitro Funny Car events," says Hagan. "If all goes well we hope to move to NHRA in 2009."

Matt Hagan Racing will also be sporting a new look in 2008 with a dramatically redesigned paint scheme for the new TORCO Nitro Funny Car.

Matt Hagan racing is sponsored by TORCO Mach Series Accelerator, and "The Fuel Doctor" Evan Knoll's TORCO Racing Fuels. For more information on TORCO fuel products, Skull Shine, Skull Gear, and other Knoll Gas enterprises, log on to Torco Race Fuels - Home.
