August 15, 2007 - RADFORD, VA--Matt Hagan and crew were dealt an early exit from last weekend's AMALIE MOTOR OIL North American Nationals in Epping, NH by Mike Janis.
After two rounds of qualifying Hagan was well-positioned as fifth qualifier, and lined up for a close first-round win with the TORCO ACCELERATOR '63 Split-Window Corvette over Pat Stoken's '68 Camaro.
It was in the second round that Hagan would meet up with the number one qualifier Janis, who had an outstanding run posting the weekend's low ET, and a world speed record on his pass.
"Mike had a phenomenal weekend," said Matt Hagan. "No one had anything even close for him. I'm really happy for him. We've been working so closely this year on the Jan-Cen program that I feel like he's my teammate and if I had to get knocked out of this race I'm glad it was by him."
Despite the early exit Hagan and crew continue to be encouraged by the recent strides the team has made in posting great qualifying times, and recent semi-final and final round finishes.
Matt Hagan will be back in IHRA competition on August 24-26 at Milan Dragway. For more information log on to IHRA.com - Homepage Of IHRA Motorsports - A Division Of Live Nation or Matt Hagan Racing.com
