"If you look at our times over the past few events you'd think we were running a six twenty bracket car," says a frustrated Matt Hagan regarding his first round elimination at last weekend's IHRA Canadian Nationals.
Matt Hagan is referring to the team's slow but consistent streak of 6.2 second passes in recent Pro Mod competition that persist despite numerous tune-ups and rebuilds. The car has slowed and the crew have yet to iron out the problem.
"We suspect it's an electrical problem," says Hagan, "but tracking it down has proven to be like finding a needle in a haystack. We've torn the entire car down and rebuilt it more times than I can remember in the past few weeks and we haven't found it yet."
Hagan and crew will spend the week tediously dismantling the TORCO ACCELERATOR 1963 Split-window Corvette and searching for the electrical issue that is sapping power from the Jan-Cen power plant.
"We'll keep looking," says Hagan. "We know this car is capable of much more horsepower than it's making right now. We're running the same power plant that Mike Janis is running, so we know it's not an engine or blower problem. We'll keep looking until we find it."
