JOLIET, Ill. – It got down to nail-biting time for GT Tonglet, but his Saturday afternoon qualifying best of 7.170 seconds at 185.46 mph was enough for him to claim the final Pro Stock Motorcycle berth for Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.
Tonglet’s best time from Friday’s two sessions was 7.186 seconds at 182.760. However, he was able to improve his time on the deciding quarter-mile run and get into the show -- by two-thousandths of a second -- ahead of 17th qualifier Craig Treble.
He opens his third consecutive Full Throttle series event against Hector Arana Jr. – the same driver he faced – and defeated – last Sunday at Norwalk, Ohio.
