Not sure how much truth there is to this but a drag racing fan sent me a message today saying that he saw Greg Anderson's tow rig and trailer on fire. The trailer was completely engulfed in smoke and flames. Looked to be a total loss. Fire happened on Interstate 10, in Fontana, CA. Can anyone confirm this?

thats awful news, its amazing that some haters on here whine about his chewing of gum, or not doing interviews right even after his house burned to the ground, his team owner had a stroke now this! im sure some will mock this too! too bad, this team will get through this and come back stronger than ever just like all year!

The newspaper article didn't say whether everyone is OK. I hope that they are and I wish the team a speedy recovery...

Back off, Jeff..there won't be any hating in this thread.

That is really a shame.......Best of luck to them getting everything sorted out and back on track.........

but..... reading the article stating it shut down the East bound 10 for several minutes???? I've never seen a big rig incident that didn't shut stuff down out there for several hours, I bet traffic was a MESS!!!

i guess you can say at least it wasnt last week....that really sucks but thats why you have insurance... ive actually wondered to myself how all these trucks drive all those miles and there arent that many incidents... hopefully it was just material and noone was hurt

absolutely terrible news.........article say I-10 and cherry ave......believe
that is exit to fontana speedway/aaa dragstrip?....weird, awful, let's get
out of 2010 and into 2011........

Sorry Jeff, not everyone is like you and bash those who they don't like. I love it how you post this stuff but you are the first person to bash Tony Schumacher.

Back to the topic, sorry to hear about the news. I am sure the team will rebound from this.

I don't post on here much, but I do drop in almost everyday and read story's and opinions. And stuff like people getting fired, laid off, quitting, diving etc. is pretty meaning less to me, BUT story's like this are just horrible, I cant imagine going through ALL the stuff that Greg has gone though in the past year. Losing your house and all your personal belongings would be devastating, but to have two fires in a years time is just total madness.
I Hope everyone is fine and that they can recover FULLY before the Winters.

I live in So CA. heard on the radio of the accident. closed the whole east bound 10 for a while. I pictured some low end open trailer that jack knifed, not a top rig like Andersons. I am sure they will be up and running without a hitch, they have a least 3 complete rigs plus plenty of new parts in NC.. but I bet putting a new trailer together was not in the plans, buy maybe it was, then just a hassle. Hope the crew is ok

They (?) say bad things come in three's, so hopefully this is the end of that run of bad luck for Greg and team.

That's terrible, I hope no one was hurt. Quite a bummer after winning the championship.

What about Greg's championship winning car? Was it on the trailer?

Someday that will be a historically significant car, as it will be the last Pontiac to ever have won a major championship.

Wow, talk about a season of highs and lows, hopefully nobody was injured. Race cars can be replaced, people can't.

One would assume the car, log books, data, and anything else race car related was in the hauler. Not sure I'd say that car would've been of any significant historical value, or at least what's left of it, if anything. Plus, I'm not so sure that will be Pontiac's last championship car.
