Gordie Rivera passed away this morning from a heart attack, and n De Nichols ( Della Woods husband) passed also.

My Dad and I were talking about Gordie at Vegas 2 last year. We were talking about how Pro Stock REALLY needed guys like him now. He always had good looking cars and was always all smiles in the pits. I was at Phoenix in 2010 when he rolled the car and shut down his operation, I was absolutely gutted for him. Condolences to all friends and family of Mr. Rivera.

Sorry to hear that. Gordie was one of the guys I loved seeing do well, because he genuinely loved racing.

I have to add, as jarring as it is to read the title of this thread, I appreciate it when the author adds the albeit sad word of passing to the title, as it humanely smacks you between the eyes with the horrible news, instead of threads featuring a racer's name only and the cold shiver you get before clicking on....just to be relieved that they in the news for happier reasons.

Used to watch him and Kevin Rotty race at the old Tucson Dragway back in the early seventies. Really nice guy.
