GM Pro Stocks for 2012

What do you think we will see for 2012?

The Cobalt is dead. Pontiac is dead.

Are we going to see the teams continuing to use the same bodies for next year they've been using for the last 3 or 4 years?

Yes. Pro stock is jelly bean racing. Can't see them making the Camaro work.

Richard; Great signature line.

The Camaro is a bigger car than a Cobalt. It's pushing a lot more wind with that big flat front end. Wasn't a concern during the first generations of Pro Stock, but it sure is now. They'd have to alter the front of it a LOT if they were going to make it work. Same thing with the Challenger, which is why we'll never see one of those in the near future. If the DID use them, they'd have to cut them down in the front so much, they'd be unrecognizable.

It been said that Chevrolet is coming out with a tudor version of the Cruze in '13. (I'm thinking I may have to get one of those. I LOVE my 4 door.!)

In fact, here's a picture of my car the day I picked it up. I happen to think the body would make a very effective pro stock shape, especially the nose. Plus, it's Chevy's hottest selling car. The Lordstown Ohio plant has been working 3 shifts to keep up with demand. I had to wait four weeks to get mine. (I wanted certain features and wasn't willing to buy it without them.)

From what I've heard, the tudor version is supposed to be a bit swoopier in profile. I think it would work. And (From another discussion on this board.) I think the younger generation could more readily identify with it than the current crop of Mustang/Camaro/Challengers that were created to appeal to the grey hairs out there.

I also believe they really need to make the switch to EFI, and soon. I KNOW from working on projects with my son that the youngest generation considers carb-you-retters to be ancient history.

Is that your daily driver?

I know they will have to take a lot of liberties with the bodies, and many won't like it, but if the PS cars look like the PM Camaroes that are already out, like Rickie's, they're going to be bada$$!

Jack, the Camaro or Mustang, you or I would purchase from the dealer's showroom floor doesn't look very aerodynamic, but the picture that Paul posted ( see post #11) makes the Camaro look very aerodynamic. I had not seen any posting of what the Camaro would look like as a Pro Stocker, when I made that comment.
