General Motors and Quarter Max Race Cars commit to Berner Pro Stock Team for 2008

CRETE, Illinois, Jan 23, 2008 – After finishing second in a closely contested battle toward winning his second IHRA Championship, Pete Berner is looking forward to the 2008 season. Pete Berner Racing is welcoming QuarterMax.com as the primary sponsor for the 2008 and 2009 seasons with Pontiac Motorsports joining as the associate sponsor. Berner is excited about these additions to his Pro Stock operation:

"It is quite an honor to be chosen to represent Quarter Max.com and Pontiac Motorsports. I truly have to thank Rick Jones at Quarter Max and Fred Simmonds at General Motors for this wonderful opportunity. John Waldie, president of Stratford Motor Products, was also instrumental in bringing about this partnership. I really appreciate his wisdom in helping us put this together.

"Our R.J. Race Cars GTO has been a rocket ship the last two seasons having won the Championship in 2006 and finishing second in 2007. We look forward to taking delivery of our new QuarterMax.com Pontiac Motorsports GXP within the next month.

"We would also like to acknowledge and thank Strange Engineering, Ram Clutches, Braswell Carburetors, Impact Racing, Dewco drive line components, Browell bell housings, K&N hood scoops and TEK Headers for their support."

The GM partnership comes with great opportunity, as this is the first time in recent history that an IHRA Pro Stock team has been awarded GM factory support. Expanding upon his successful racing history with the GM backing and excellent support from the industry's leading chassis builder, Berner is well equipped to chase the '08 Pro Stock Championship in his QuarterMax.com Pontiac Motorsports GXP.
