anybody know what the attendence was like on sat compared to last year? if this thing can be made into some big cash race or some kind of an allstar race then a sponsor could benefit if the stands will be packed like the were this year.

Thanks for the news Bobby. Wow, a 61-2 vote. I guess that pretty much sums up what the racers thought of 4-wide.

i wonder who speaks for the team(i guess owner). i heard antron brown personally say he liked the racing and would come back for more. he couldve been blowing smoke up fans butts but thats what he said so who knows.

Problem is there was no March event last year. Comparing the March event to the event last fall would be comparing apples to oranges, especially considering the differences in weather.

It's great to see PRO take a strong stand on something...finally. (there may have been others, they're as secret as Skull and Bones with their internal operations)

Racers by the very core of their being are not inclined to cooperate with other racers. It's nice to see them act as one collective bargaining unit for once!

61 to 2 is a really strong repudiation of the "four wide for points" concept! That's winning by a margin of 97% AGAINST to 3% FOR. It will be fun to see NHRA try to make an issue out of this now!

I do sincerely hope that four lanes can be of benefit in other aspects of making a better show. I'd like to see it HALVE the on track time of all class cars that maybe run slower than 9 or 10 seconds, perhaps? It could make a full day at the drags a four hour event instead of six to eight!

Or.......run two nitro cars per race, but give them the choice of four lanes instead of two? Nahhhhh, if the two best lanes are one and four, then the cars without ten foot tall wings can't see each other, which, we recently learned, has it's drawbacks in terms of pushing cars over center unnecessarily.

I feel bad for Bruton's feelings, though. He took a risk, made a big investment, and it doesn't seem to have made things any better, at least for PRO racing. But, you don't get to his level without taking risks, and I do respect one of the most original ideas in the entire history of drag racing! (yes, I know 4 wide isn't exactly a brand new invention.) It is an undisputed first for NHRA Series PRO racing and some new interesting history. You can't take that away from him!

how many times has PRO said in articles they were going to band together
and act on an issue, be it the "C", 1000', nitromethane....... and now 4-wide!?
61-2....please, humor me more
let's see the list of names.

You thought the stands were packed? Didn't look that way on TV!

Was not at the race but was told that there was about 15 minutes of waiting between each run. Can anybody let me know if this was true. Talk about boring if it was!!!

This could be good! I"m sure Bruton Smith likes a challenge. He'll come back with , "OK, how about non points $200,000 to win Nitro"

Just so he's not proven wrong. Point though Bruton.......you already were.

....in a related story, PRO announced the introduction of their silent partner...

Mr. Snyder was quoted as saying...

"we've Got The Right To Choose And...there Ain't No Way We'll Lose It...this Is Our Life, This Is Our Song." When asked what the future holds for the relationship between PRO and NHRA Mr. Snyder stated..."We'll Fight The Powers That Be Just...don't Pick Our Destiny 'cause...you Don't Know Us, You Don't Belong"

I completly agree there were A LOT of EMPTY seate on the right side of the track. Maybe Bruton could do like a Night of Fire-via Norwalk Stlyle! I mean that race packs the FANS in ever year! I have been to that a few times! Really enjoyed seeing it!!!:D Glad to see 4 Wide go to the Way Side! Was never a Fan!:(

LOL... Tim....

on the subject.. last time the drivers talked out against Brutons guys they got a t-shirt thats said shut up and race....

the key to this is to see how NHRA handles it with Bruton and the boys.... to Bruton the key is the money is he making any or not.... if he made just a couple bucks he won't care what PRO or anyone else says....

I will accept 4-wide drag racing in the points series when Bruton announces in the 600 coming up after each driver hits the 300 mile mark they have to turn around and go the last 300 miles in the opposite direction.... while other drivers are still trying to get to the 300 mile mark so they can turn around....:D:D

You were told wrong. Unless it was because of blown up FC bodies or rear tires shredding or an occasional oildown. Nothing out of the ordinary that you wouldn't see at any other race. PSM qualifying took a little over 10 minutes. PS took right at 15 minutes. If there no incident during FC and TF as soon as the track was clear the next group of cars was at the line ready to fire.

That would be great! I was thinking that I would love to see a 4-Wide "Winston Invitational" type of event. No Points, just run it for cash!

I'm on the "I'm not against 4-wide, just against it for a points race" wagon..

I found this interesting.. as quoted from PRO TO NHRA: WE'RE NOT RACING 4-WIDE FOR POINTS ANYMORE
"Our sources have confirmed that PRO cited its objections on the basis of safety, confusion over the format, sponsorship identification and a circus-like atmosphere."

- SAFETY? I'd like to hear more on this one....
- CONFUSION OVER THE FORMAT? Seems they figured it out in time for the finals ok...perhaps they could give it another shot?
- Sponsorship identification... well OK, I can understand this .... TO A POINT.
- A CIRCUS-LIKE ATMOSPHERE??? What, PRO owners don't like clowns???

But the best part is this one right here...

"PRO reportedly informed the NHRA that it is willing to discuss a future event under an all-star or exhibition basis, but has said their membership will not participate in the same kind of event as staged in 2010."
 hmmm If the above REASONS are VALID... THEN WHY WOULD THEY ENTERTAIN AN EXHIBITION FORMAT?

- If it's Not SAFE.. WHY DO IT AT ALL?
- IF THERE IS CONFUSION OVER THE FORMAT.... WOULDN'T THIS CREATE A SAFETY ISSUE... SO WHY DO IT AT ALL?..
- IF SPONSORSHIP IDENTIFICATION IS THE ISSUE... DO YOU THINK YOUR SPONSORS (I hate that word) ARE GOING TO WANT YOU TO COMPETE IN THE "EXHIBITION"...which causes CONFUSION about the format...and thus is NOT SAFE.... SO... WHY DO IT AT ALL?
- IF A CIRCUS ATMOSPHERE IS THE PROBLEM and this creates problems with SPONSOR IDENTIFICATION and thus causes the sponsors to JUST SAY NO on this because it causes CONFUSION OVER THE FORMAT...which DIRECTLY LEADS TO A SAFETY CONCERN.... THEN ONCE AGAIIN...

WHY DO IT AT ALL????
