Was out at the Bug-O-Rama yesterday at Firebird and there were serious issues with the track. I didn't see the wreck but heard someone rolled a bug on the top end. After whatever happened they decided to switch to 1/8 mile for all the faster cars. Several racers packed up and left, I guess before someone put it on the lid there were several close calls. Watched a little racing after that and one of the high 11 second cars lost it at the top end and barely missed the guy in the other lane...luckily he kept it upright.

If cheapo Charlie doesn't fix the track soon no one is going to show up to race. The track is just unsafe in it's current condition.

I read on here on the Mater that he's moving on to Spokane Raceway Park, Spokane, Washington...

I don't think anyone said Charlie Allen was moving to Spokane... he was recently approved along with partner Ron Hodgson to operate Spokane County Raceway, by the Spokane County Commissioners. They are the replacement for Bucky Austin.

I'm not sure what would be easier, fix the issues and upgrade the facility as a whole, raze and rebuild, or build new on a different site and move accreditation there. I would love to see a LVMS level of facility here in town.

That track has sucked in the past, IT REALLY SUCKED on sunday and some of us will never go back to it again.

At Charlotte one of the Pro Stock drivers told me that right after the fiasco in Phoenix the Pro stock guys (not sure if it was PRO or just a group of drivers) sent a letter indicating that if the track was not fixed properly they would not be racing there in 2011.

Since the Indians own the property, spending $30 MIllion to rebuild a Vegas type place won't happen anytime soon.

These days once a track goes away it's rare that it will ever be replaced. Be careful what you wish for.

Heh Joe, I thought the indians, with thier casinos and such, had mucho wampum. Or do they just know a bad enterprise when they see one?

Part of Charlie's sell to the county was that he could move his "very experienced crew" up to Spokane in the summer months when it's too hot to run in Phoenix.

And can you just imagine how thrilled (not) his experienced crew was to hear that he expects them to either fly to Spokane for every race, or pack up and relocate to Spokane 6 months out the year. That's a con job if I ever heard one.

Missed you guys this weekend. Heard Lauffer won on three holeshots...

Who announced?

JL

Dont know who was on the mike, we were busy dodging debris at the top end. We were pulling up to get our car when we saw the crash and were the first on the scene. As we got back to the pits we heard the other crash and decided to call it a day. Didnt get to see the rest of the races.

Saddest part was it was a brand new paint scheme for Ron and they just shot photos of it on Saturday for hotVWs :(

You coming to Sac?

We will be there racing our Nitro Harley's April 17-18. We haven't raced at that track for a couple of years. What is the cause of the problem? Is the track prep bad or is the surface bumpy? Is it just the left lane or both?
