Round one of qualifying tonight; sixteen cars trying to qualify for an eight car ladder; round two at 5:00 tomorrow night; racing begins at 7:00; the track conditions looked good; no Plueger, Turner, or Worsham but plenty of other cars capable of running in the fives. Josh Crawford ran 5.83@245; that "Fuel Junky" funny car of Josh's has some of the biggest header flames that I have ever seen on a modern day nostalgia funny car. Tim Boychuk ran 5.99@245 but it looked like he may have given it a quick pedal at half track (my eyes suck so who knows if I imagined that or not?); with Roland Leong tuning, I expect they'll do much better tomorrow. No Gary Densham or Mendy Fry; maybe we'll get lucky and they'll show up tomorrow; no oil downs or other messes worth mentioning; the new Code Red body is absolutely gorgeous. Everything I posted was based on my memory and my memory isn't so good anymore; hopefully I got it right. I choked on plenty of nitro fumes and got to see funny cars that resemble real cars with no nitro percentage limitations run the full 1320; what more could I ask for? So far, it looks like it will be much better than last year.
