<P>(9-30-08)Mocksville, NC. Story by Mark Joyce - “The “We Fly Together” race team with driver Rocky Raynor will be in the “dawg house” this Saturday Night, October 4th at Mooresville Dragway. Greensboro, NC driving ace Raynor is the only two time Outlaw Mad Dawg winner in the last three years with his Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Durham, NC sponsored ’63 Corvette. “ I want to win this upcoming race bad a Mooresville” , said Rocky. “ Right now I’m the only two time winner of Mad Dawg races ( the very first one back in 2006 and last May both at Mooresville). The team of Harris, Dunlap and Raynor have a new Sonny’s Racing Engines combination in the Stroupe built Chevrolet. This new motor has plenty of power, as right now the team is trying to get the right converter and other bugs worked.
Other former Mad Dawg winner’s include: Hoston Dial, Chad Tilley, Kerry Crosby, Gilmer Hinshaw, Ronnie Gardner, Travis Harvey and most recent winner, Joel Douglas. The team of driver Joel Douglas and car owner Anthony Sherrill scored a big Mad Dawg win three weeks ago, defeating Lexington, VA's J.D. Goad. Joel blasted to a dawg career best ET of 4.20 seconds to defeat the "Dancing With Death" Lumina. Douglas, from Statesville, NC will be gunning for win two number at the Dirty Mo this Saturday with his 632 powered Chevrolet Cavalier.
The "Carolina Kid" Travis Harvey blasted to a new dawg et record with a 4.13 at 184 MPH. Also look out for yankee new comer Chris Rini in his ATI Dodge Stratus. He''ll be getting himself introduced to dawg racing on Friday, in a best 2 out of 3 "Dirty Mo Style GRUDGE match against the "Junkyard Dog" David Lambert. Lambert, owner of Wayne’s Automotive off Hwy 3, just right down the road from the drag strip will have his Buck powered Chevrolet Cavalier ready for this “Yankee Invader” both Friday and Saturday. This yank also said he wants some you guys that run this small dawg. Sounds like a lot of air in the nitrous line to me? We'll see.
Also, reports from South Carolina suggest that the Par Racing Engines owned GXP Pontiac of Scott Duggins will be in the house Saturday night with driver and motor owner Jermey Cresman behind the contols. Plus Dirty Mo Dawg runner-up back in August Sambo Price will have his Par Racing engine '68 Camaro ready for the dawg fights.
