Rod Fuller didn’t get hurt in the zoo that I remember. His own pit area perhaps back in 95, that’s a different story.

Jeff Arend hurt his foot on a Saturday night in Brainerd and couldn’t run Sunday.

There was two different stories of what happened to Rod.
One was that he was wanting to talk to a female on the other side of the fence.
The other was that he had to go to the john and the closest was on the other side of that fence.
I was doing some PR work for Rod in northwest Arkansas at the time, so I asked what the heck happened.
He was looking for a port-a-john.

That was Norwalk

I was up and down, in and out. Did your son's get to run their Jr's at Brainerd like the last 2 years Paul?

There are lots of interesting stories from the zoo at BIR that involve pro drivers and other well known people but it's kinda like being in Vegas... What happens in the zoo, stays in the zoo.

So many drivers back then that are no longer in the sport. Andrew Cowin, David Baca and Rhonda Smith are names that I remember. Money talks. Thank God Clay Millican is still doing it.
Well Rhonda is still around the sport. Her daughter Megan Smith runs A/Fuel. If they ever get major funding, there is a decent chance Rhonda could return. Megan wants to race against her at some point.

There are lots of interesting stories from the zoo.......
every year our group always gets to a point in the weekend where we sit around and bust a gut rehashing old war stories.......we're pretty careful
out back these days......i'll never forget watching these two guys on old bicycles with high rise bars and banana seats. they had set up a ramp over a campfire,
well this one guy hits the ramp, lands front wheel first, veers off course and crashes into a tent with someone/s in it. the tenters were freaked out, and the crash guy
ended up with broken ribs and an ambulance ride.......the mud pit, the barrel fights, top alcohol camp, sharpie markers, duct tape, and on and on and on, i am
laughing just typing this........one year we were tossing water balloons at 'floats' as they paraded by in evening. a little while later one of the trailers came by and 4 guys
with full 5 gallon pickle buckets completely soaked us. it was great. we totally deserved it.

Here's the story on Jeff Arend's "accident." As I remember, I thought Jim Dunn would be furious but Jeff indicated he wasn't.

Sometimes you do dumb stuff with no alcohol involved. Back in 2011 we were running the Seattle Divisional. I decided I needed to take a look at the track before we ran since it was pretty hot out. Rather than step over the concrete at about 60' out wall I decided to try the high jump over it like a runner. Well. my lead foot missed clearing the wall by about 3/4 of an inch, meaning I went head first over and did a face plant on the track. Jeff Smith was with me when I did it. After making sure I was ok (hurt like heck), he told me something to the effect that even in my younger years I probably wouldn't have cleared it, so why try now? I had no answer.
