I had a chance to see Bob at the old Speedworld in Phoenix. He was part of a team that was gonna run a T/F car. This may have been 15 years ago? Anyhoo, he did drive the car for initial runs. Don't know what happened to the team, but they never ran in competition. The car had Floyd Lippencott on the side.

Had him autograph a book about the Road Kings and told him it had to be Floyd. When my shop was in Burbank, I was only a couple blocks from his Maytag store.

At the 50th U.S. Nationals 2004, the Freight Train was on display in the pits. As I had never seen the car before I went by to get some pictures of it. There weren't many people around. As I was walking around the car, one of the guys with the car came up to me and we started talking about it. It turns out that guy was Bob Muravez. He then asked if I wanted to sit in the car. I couldn't turn down that offer. I'm 6'0" and was around 180 at the time, and could barely squeeze into the cockpit. No way could I put my feet under the axle tubes like Muravez said he did. It was pretty neat looking ahead and seeing those two blown engines in front of me. When they fired it up later, it got me wishing NHRA would allow that Top Gas class to come back, with dual engines, and everything, if for nothing else than getting to hear the sounds that thing made.

I saw the Train with the 2 Chevys and later with the twin Chryslers. There is nothing like the sound of a twin, unless you see 2 twins race side by side. Wow....

Bob and his wife Sharon are awesome people. We met them at the NHRA museum and he had several folks sit in the Freight Train which was on display at the museum. Another one of the crappy things from covid2020 is we dont get to see them at the Finals in Pomona like usual.

Be nice if the regulars show up at Vegas, cars & all. Don't think there will be a good crowd, but at least the Finals will be run.
