Extreme 10.5, PX Motorcycle Racers Looking for More Bonus Points

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (May 31, 2007) - For the Flowmaster American Drag Racing League's Extreme 10.5 and Pro Extreme Motorcycle classes, the theme in the early-going of the 2007 season has been "records."Hundreds of bonus points have already been awarded to record-setting racers in the two classes, both of which will compete in Friday and Saturday's AMS Staff Leasing Summer Drags at Huntsville Dragway.

In Extreme 10.5, Rodney Rosenstiel (713 points) and Steve Hill (481) are the leaders of the AlphaTrade Battle for the Belts points standings, and both have enjoyed 50 bonus points this season for setting the Extreme 10.5 speed record. The class' e.t. record is held by Steve Kirk Jr., who ran a 4.326 in Houston to add 50 points to his account. He currently sits in eighth place in the points standings, the all-important dividing line between the eight drivers who qualify for the Battle for the Belts championship eliminators and those who don't.

The Summer Drags will be the third event for the ADRL's Extreme 10.5 class, which became the league's third championship eliminator after a successful exhibition debut at last season's Dragstock III event. Rosenstiel (Houston) and Hill (Valdosta) won the first two events on the schedule.

In Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Coodee Thomas lost in the final round of the class' debut event in Valdosta, but still nearly left the event with the points lead. He deposited an even 100 points in his points account for establishing both ends of the class record, giving him 540 points to event winner Steve Drake's 541. And, with only one completed event in the class' history, the ADRL's Pro Extreme Motorcycle records are hardly set in stone, which could lead to more bonus points being awarded as early as this weekend.

Action in both the Extreme 10.5 and Pro Extreme Motorcycle classes begins Friday night with a single qualifying session at 8 p.m. local time. Saturday night's eliminations fields will be set following two additional rounds of qualifying earlier in the day (noon and 2 p.m.).
