ENNIS, Texas – After an up and down weekend at the Division 4 stop at Houston Raceway Park this past weekend, Jonathan Johnson and the rest of the Etterman Racing / Bar’s Leaks Funny Car Team head to the O’Reilly Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas.
The team qualified number one with a stellar 5.737 At 247.97 mph. When the first round of eliminations came about, the team found themselves watching opponent Steve Burck drive away to a 6.008 victory over Johnson’s tire smoking 9.259.
“We simply overpowered the racetrack, and that is part of racing,” states Jonathan Johnson. “It is never enjoyable losing, but on a bright side, we feel we proved we have a fast racecar. We enjoyed hosting the boy scouts, as well as our friends from Link-Belt and CLM Equipment. We are heading to Ennis with a smile on our face and look forward to a great weekend!” exclaims Johnson.
“The sport is humbling,” comments George Etterman. “While we did continue to run good, we didn’t compensate enough for the changing track in the first round of eliminations and it bit us. The Ennis event is one we have run well at in the past and look forward to qualifying well and hopefully picking up some round wins” concludes Etterman.
