I noticed the big guffaw of the show,

Paul Page: "Cruz Pe-deray-gone"

Mispronouncing the champs name is like Mike Adamle when he commentated on WWE TV

Give him a friggin break, Rob. This was a great broadcast IMO.

Man..never ceases to amaze me. I enjoyed the show tonight..good stuff all along..oh..and the racing was top notch..yet..someone has to start a Page bash.

You take his first couple telecasts..and put it next to this one..360 degrees. Showed excitement at the right time..and I didn't turn the volume down when he talked..hehe. Then you have to say something about the way he pronounced Cruz's name. I say why even go there.

Stellar show tonight..

Page has gotten so much better in the last year, leave him alone.

If you want to hear the absolute worst, watch Olsen and Tucci on an ADRL broadcast. A freakin' screaming match.

was watching nascar sat. nite - glad i'm really not into that deal much
anymore - joy, waltrip and mcreynolds take the cake for boring
and immature commentary.
thank goodness nhra doesn't start each broadcast with boog..........
i won't even type it.

watched race last nite in public establishment with very little volume.
will note that when you can't give your full attention to the program and
can only visually watch, did seem to notice the typical inordinate amount
of face time for mr. force.........i know 'he's the sport' rite now, but
i think it may be getting to be a bit much?

and on that note - happy birthday to mr. force (i believe it's today?)
i'm a big fan of his organization.

Yes he has gotten a lot better. And this time he caught himself and chuckled at his mistake which makes it all the better. He also seems a bit more relaxed and is gelling better with Mike. I'd say it was his best outing to date.

Paul is doing fine, on his worst day he is 1000x better than Marty "Went Turtle" Reid.

Put on a pair of freaking headphones, get a mic, go down to the local strip, or other sports event and announce for a day. Just do it. Please do it. Don't sit on your azz and speculate how easy the freaking job is. Do it. That's all I ask.

Of course this is a great country and we can speculate on anything from drivers, to crew chiefs, to announcers. I understand that. Anyone is well within their right as Amercians (even illegal Americans) to complain and moan. I'm just saying do it.

I think the shows are good and getting better all the time, but I do have one request if anybody from the production is watching. I really like the "raw" footage of the race from the top of the stands with the full effect sound that comes with it. You can still show all the different angles on the replays to comment on each run, but please, give us more of a view of the complete race with the un-muffled sound. I think we have all pretty much agreed that the sound is a big part of the experience, and I know it can't be replicated on TV, but even some youtube videos give a better feel for the actual race and sound than the over-produced shots we sometimes get. Rant over, just my .02.

Your no different than the other Million internet jerks, always calling Page out.

Drag racing is maybe the fastest sport in the world, it's over in less than 4 seconds, those guys have no way of knowing the results in advance, they don't just sit there, they reference that last run as soon as the car lights up the board.

How many mistakes has Dunn made on the program, several yesterday.

You want to see how good Paul Page is, tune into the Indianapolis 500 radio Broadcast, Paul is returning for this event this year

Hey everyone makes mistakes. Didn't Antron mess up his crewchiefs' names in his interview after the win? I know he just climbed out of a fuel car, but...:D

Since the rant is on I'll chime in.

While I didn't mind Page correcting himself on Cruz's name last night, or the 2 second top fuel run or the pro stocker that ran a 4 last night there is one thing that disturbs me.

Whenever an underdog looses for whatever reason, or blows it up, Page says something like:

"Well, ha ha, he took him out, ha ha, and he falls, he ha, and he, ha, ha, ha, just like ha, ha, we expected, ho, ho, ho, ha while his opponent ran low et, ha, ha, boy that looked expensive, wow, ha, ha, ho, ho ho..."

I guess from a racers point of view I just don't find it all that funny when lower funded teams like one recently from another country who puts it all on the line, then blows the engine parts through the pavement or blows the framerails apart catching it on fire on a run or happens to loose for whatever reason just because Paul expected them to.

Just my opinion.

Paul. Page. Sucks.

Everyone knows it. The teams know it. The fans know it. The suits in Glendora know it. The gang at 16th and Georgetown know it, they couldn't wait to get rid of him.

My understanding is that Page has a contract with ESPN, and NHRA has no choice but to take him during the ESPN broadcasts even though NHRA is paying for the air time. If that is true, then it is asinine and bad business. (if not, I am sure someone will be along to correct me)

With all of that being said, he is demonstrably better now than he was when he started, but how many of us could have shown up to work, stunk up the joint for a couple of years and expected to still be gainfully employed?

I think you unintentionally hit the nail on the head. Page is meant for the the slower paced long haul race such and the 500. Not the best fit here.

While he has improved a ton, I don't think he is the fit. Face it to the average fan Mike and Paul are who they learn the sport from. With Alan, Frey, Reif, Kernan and such sitting there, I would think any of those would be a much better choice to be the voice of the nhra.

Forgot who it was who mentioned putting on a headset and trying it and not to complain unless you've done it. I don't think anyone here said it would be an easy job. I could talk racing or a few other sports all day, but since I have a horrible tendency to talk way to fast, chances are I would not be the best person to put on a mic for a long period of time.
As the customer don't we have a right to expect better?

I just don't get it, I guess. Paul is working hard to get this right..and to some..it will never be right.

You build an opinion and that's it. Instead of looking at improvement..you wait for the next fu$k-up.

Whatever.

Personally, I don't pay much attention to him..I watch the racin..I hear the gaffs..and wince when I know they will show up here..never fails.

Bottom line..I like Paul..and I'm sticking with him. You do better..apply for the job.

As for any better, I would say that Paul Page is the best in the entire Drag Racing Crew when it comes to telling about the up coming promo for the station. he tends to be very good reading a script in front of him. I will have my radio tuned in to the Indy Race on the 24th, sure it will bring back memories from 20 / 30 years ago, the guys today just don't have the excitement that Page has when it comes to Indy car racing, will be interesting with him being on his old turf.

I agree it's a shame a guy like Kernan sitting on the sidelines, just doesn't seem right, he must have pissed a few off somewhere along the line

If i ticked off someone, i'm not aware of it. I feel very fortunate that they've made room for me to work the broadcasts during the countdown. See you guys at Indy! I can't wait!
