Epping Conditions

Surprised no one has posted this yet...conditions for the Friday night session look stellar, and Epping is one of three (I believe) tracks on tour that has concrete to the 1320' Buckle up!

Was saying to Joe earlier the weather looks great, I think we all might be talking about that session this time tomorrow nite. After seeing Del go 4.008 last weekend I didn't think I would see anything quicker but who knows. Will not having any data from this track be an issue?

The track is smooth as glass! Lanny Miglisi said it has the flattest surface in the country...AWESOME!

I remember back in the 90's when Epping was IHRA, all the quickest Pro mod times came out of that track! Bob Newberry told me 15 years ago Epping was as good as any NHRA track!

Looks like it might still be a bit warm to me. Having said that, I think we could see a FC in the 3's. What does anyone else think??

I thought for sure with the track temp in the 90's and air temp in the 70's the cars would run a lot quicker. The cars were running what they ran in E-Town and the E-town air and track temps were much higher. They were saying on the ESPN coverage the traction compound wasn't what they usually use, not sure how much that played into it.

Agree that it wasn't as quick as I thought. Talked to a couple CC's an the your right, the traction compound was throwing everyone off a bit. At this track they have always used a VP compound, which is different than the normal NHRA VHT that they spray down before each session.

.....and the track cut 50/50 where NHRA cuts 75/25, so the new spray had a little difficulty adhering to the older.
I was told the rubber was peeling up on the starting line with the texture of gum. I'm quite sure they'll have it resolved for next year.

New England Dragway switched to VP traction compound in September of 2011. When they made the switch there were broken tranny's and rear ends everywhere.

I've never been to Epping, but it sure looks great on the TV. The smaller tower and public roadway behind the starting line are really cool. Very "retro" cool.

I remember when they switched to the "Track Bite" back in 2005(?) and had the same issue....how do you fix it? Just add more alcohol to dilute it...
