Eileen Daniels, a Midwest icon, NHRA mainstay, and friend to all, passes away

Eileen Daniels, who with her late husband, former Division 3 Director Bob Daniels, became a mainstay of NHRA Drag Racing in the Midwest and shepherds for Indianapolis Raceway Park, and later became a huge part of NHRA’s Hot Rod Reunion and nostalgia exhibitions, died Jan. 14.

Eileen was also a friend to us here in Britain. She twice attended our British Drag Racing Hall of Fame annual Gala Dinners and served as one of our International Ambassadors. We shall miss her.

Eileen was such a sweetheart, she loved drag racing and the people in the sport. she will truly be missed.

Always enjoyed talking to Eileen and Bob. Especially enjoyed taking time to talk with her the last year or two of the Orlando PRI Show where she kind of held court outside the entrance watching over the Tuna tank altered and other historical cars. Great lady.

She lived a lot of NHRA history, and made some of it as well. She was a rare person who knew every aspect of an event, and could take charge of any of them.

Her Hot Rod Junction and parades were well run, organized and a Huge addition to the events where she took charge. We will miss her greatly.
