E-town event is history?

No, I mean for over the period of a whole season. I am sure that the nationals are all pretty close and ETown, I am sure, is not the largest draw. I am just trying to state that ETown is in such a major market, it would be ridiculous to not have an event in that market, and ETown is the only track that can service that area with a major event.

There's no question that E-town's in the #1 market in the country, and despite some of the comments It would take a LOT for NHRA to leave his track.

If they got rid of Englishtown, it would be hard for them to justify not getting rid of Pomona, therefore I'd be surprised if they pulled the E-Town event. I'm sure if we closely analyzed each shut down area, we'd find a couple worse than Englishtown and some that are only marginally better.

Reading that thread, the OP is stating that the NJ State Police will not allow any sanctioning body, NHRA or IHRA, or the track itself to race T/F or F/C at the facility. Whether that restriction pertains to the track in its current form or a revised facility with improved safety equipment in the shut down area, I don't know. I also don't know if the NJSP would take that decision. ETown is still a major tourist attraction. Fuel cars, outside of the national event, are there on a regular basis. The financial impact to the local economy would be huge.

IMHO, I don't see it happening. The Napps have spent millions of their own money in upgrading the facility. I'm sure they were just as devasted as we all were. If there's a way to make ETown safer, I'm sure they're all for it. The wall that everyone cited as a major concern was done in the wake of Johnny West's accident. Look for them to make major improvements. My two cents...

If the NJSP determines that racing fuel cars at E-Town creates unacceptable risks ( as determined by the NJSP) then they could certainly ban whatever they want to.
The NJSP is the reporting authority for all racing in the State of New Jersey and has the ability to do whatever they decide is prudent.

If the NJSP determines that 3500' is to short and produces an unacceptable risk then I believe that will establish a base line for other reporting authorities and insurance companies to follow. And I don't think there is a thing the NHRA can do about it.

It could get very interesting.

That post from bullet was from the 25th. Hardly believe any decision was made that fast. Like someone else said they would probably just switch to IHRA.

Horse hockey! E-Town might close, but only because the townies finally win!

Just to clarify...the people in the area who are always fighting against the track do not live in the same town as the track. The track is in Old bridge Township but it is near the border with Manalapan. It is the homeowners in Manalapan who are causing the trouble for the track.

Of course, it might be possible to end this if someone managed to "leak" plans to close the track and build 3,000 units of high-density low-income housing on the land.

I don't think he means get it approved, only leaked as a possible replacement to the dragstrip to the home owner whiners.;)

There's a greater chance that I'll win the Nobel prize in economics next year than that getting approved!

Right you are, Dave. Any time you want to get an approved land use in an affluent neighborhood, threaten to put in low-income housing if you don't get what you want.

Get the neighbors thinkingthey may have low-income housing next door and they'll be hanging "Welcome Race Fans" banners from their roofs.
