E-town event is history?

I think the source may be some wino at the bar. I'd be shocked if they were to leave E-twon and if so I don't think they would announce it so soon , let alone on the day of the memorial service.

I'll wait for an official announcement! However if Bruton Smith is planning on building a strip near Loudon or Dover (whichever track he just bought!) NHRA might just tell E-town "Can't change your shutdown?" We'll just give your race to Bruton.

Why would NHRA leave ETown? They could not replace that race. It is in the ****ries largest market, ETown draws more fans every year tan any other track in the country. there is no way that you can build another race track in a location like ETown.

They are located 30 minutes away from NYC, which has more corporate dollars than anywhere else in the country. If drag racing leaves this market then drag racing is in big trouble.

And one week later E-Town will announce and change to IHRA Sanction and get TWO IHRA national event races on the dates that they want, not the leftovers that Glendora hands them. They don't need NHRA to make money. I remember a John Force vs. Dean Skuza match race on a Wednesday night that filled the place with fans for $20 bucks a pop. Jets cars and monster trucks get them a bigger crowd than Friday qualifying.

In that area of the Northeast, I'd bet that at least 30 pro mods would show up trying to qualify. Heck, the Shakedown event in October gets a better field of pro mods than NHRA can ever hope to get. NHRA does not own drag racing.... they just think they do.

OK, enough of my "NHRA can stick it" rant.

.....but wait, just one more little rant. As for me, I'm taking my money and heading to PA. to watch the sprint cars. Great racing, cheap tickets, and no whiney little millionaires running around the pits complaining about everything but doing nothing. Just real racers....only racers. Capps, Scelzi, and Cruz have already found this out. See you guys on the dirt!

You know, New Egypt Speedway right here in NJ has world of outlaws once a year too. I video taped all but the last lap back in 05.

Bridgeport used to have 410 sprints as well but now i think they only have 360 sprints once in awhile. East Windsor unfortunately closed permanently after promoter Lenny Sammons passed. The PA Harrisburg area is a bit far for me But i did see Fast Freddy Rahmer take an event at Lincoln Speedway back in 1999 with my son and my late dad while on our way to Gettysburg. I talked dad into a Friday night detour which he enjoyed

I was once told that the money that E-Town takes in from its Night Of Fire covers their yearly bills. After that it is all icing on the cake.

First of all, Bruton ain't getting a dragstrip at Dover. He's probably going to purchase Dover that way he can send another east coast date over to the middle of nowhere (Kentucky...wtf?), but he also wants Dover so he can get Memphis Motorsports Park.

Memphis being bought, not a bad idea. I'm not overly impressed about their track, and we know Bruton Smith ain't gonna take too kindly to one of his tracks not being safe.

If E'Town loses a date, well, too bad. And it would not surprise me in the least.

E-Town draws more fans than any in the Country? Is that for the Natl's or all season? Cause I can tell you that the Gator's, Indy, Dallas and Norwalk are the highest attended races according to NHRA.

No, I mean for over the period of a whole season. I am sure that the nationals are all pretty close and ETown, I am sure, is not the largest draw. I am just trying to state that ETown is in such a major market, it would be ridiculous to not have an event in that market, and ETown is the only track that can service that area with a major event.
