Duchesne, Utah

I just read an article and watched a video of a groundbreaking ceremony by the Apex Racing Foundation for a new quarter mile dragstrip in Duchesne, Utah. That’s a bit east of Salt Lake City. High elevation, almost 6,000 ft.

I’m not finding a ton of information about it though, does anyone know if this thing is looking to be big enough to try for a national?

Do you think Nitro teams even really want to try and run at that altitude anymore?

It’s about two hours east of SLC, and almost as far from Provo. Tthere is about zero infrastructure in Duchesne - nearest lodging is an hour east in Vernal - Vernal is small without a lot of lodging itself. This seems like a strange location for a track - not even sure where they’ll get “local” racers from.

Fair points, I was hoping that this could be something good after the closure of Rocky Mountain Raceway near Salt Lake City. They used to occasionally run IHRA nitro cars up there if I remember right.
