BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Oct. 29, 2008) Schumacher Electric/Albrecht's Fast Track Suzuki Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Craig Treble is looking to score his second straight national NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event victory this weekend at the Las Vegas NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
He is coming off a victory at Memphis Motorsports Park Sept. 28, which moved him up to No. 8 in the points in the Countdown to 1 playoffs,
152 markers out of first. While it is still mathematically possible for Treble to win the championship, realistically he's aiming for a top-five finish.
"It's obviously a privilege to be a part of the Countdown and in the top 10," said Treble, who has one win in three final rounds this season and is the 2003 Las Vegas 2 champion (from No. 1 position). "The most important thing for me coming into this year was staying focused on making sure I made the top 10. If for one reason only, it would be because it's my 10th straight year riding in the PSM class. And I'm pretty proud of that. I've been with different teams and I've done my own thing, but the bottom line is that I've always been able to make the top 10. My goal this year was to keep that streak going."
Treble joined Don Schumacher Racing prior to the NHRA U.S. Nationals Labor Day weekend this year, and with Chip Ellis formed a solid two-wheeled duo at DSR.
"I would like nothing more than to have both of us finish in the top five," added Treble. "We have all the resources, people and knowledge at DSR to make it a reality and I think if we can catch a break we can pull it off. Either way, we'll have a good time in Las Vegas, especially if one of the DSR Suzukis is in the winner's circle."
