Drag Racing on NPR

Like him or not, John Force is the face of drag racing. We all thought Bernstein owned funny car, then John and the Think Tank/Super Tuner Consortium started winning championship, after championship, after championship, after championship. Of all professional motorsports, his domination is amongst the longest running, if not THE longest running. His racing family is a huge story for the uninitiated, and I can see why he is the most well-known drag racer amongst the current crop of generations. For me, he's like that Uncle that tells the same joke at every family gathering since I was a child. I can hardly bring myself to offer a courtesy laugh, but I still love him. I prefer to remember the John Force who was a bride's maid for so many years. The same Brute Force that beat Beadle at Fremont and I said, who is this guy? I'm not a believer that any press is good press, but this is good press. I imagine more than a handful of fortune 500 gurus listen.

There can be little question that he has the best PR group on the industry. He pays, probably a ton of money, for us - who already know - to be sick of his face being everywhere. They continually do a superior job of marketing the sport to mainstream audiences than the sanctioning body of the sport itself. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Is your Spanish name, Cluelesso?
Expected.

When America hater George Soros donates $1.6 million to an organization that tells me all I need to know about that organization. And when a broadcaster can't stand on it's own two feet without getting unwarranted grants from the federal government (ie my money) that's also all I need to know.

Now who is "Cluelesso?

Right on Randy . NPR is bought and paid for editorially and I'm surprised all mention of Drag Racing isn't banned from it's air ways .
I would say John's PR group is superior . He must of told them he races Funny Electric Cars . LOL

Mark you are a well intentioned guy but you gotta know gasoline or NITRO powered anything isn't popular with the Left .
SEMA fights for our right to pursue our Hobby . Thank goodness someone is looking out for us .
We are fixing to loose our second Drag strip in a year in the Dallas Area . Mostly economics but Noise Laws rear their ugly head every year with encroachment of housing .
Fixin to be down to 4 Race Tracks .
Only three I would go to . If a track isn't making money how can they fight to stay open .

I can't understand what the grief could be regarding cars racing on nitro or alky from the left. Organic mater combusted with such intensity that even the byproducts are disintegrated.

Just wanted to toss in here that not everyone who is a "leftie" is against motorsports. I lean left and have been playing with cars my whole life! In my opinion, the worst thing we can do is label someone "left" or "right" and then automatically apply stereotypic judgments to them because of that. I'm left, but some of my best friends and competitors are right, we all have our opinions and beliefs, and we let it go at that and go race. The ability to have differing opinions is kinda what America is all about, right? And, just for the record, I have a t-shirt that says "Nuke the Whales" that I wear to family functions to drive my even further left brother nuts!

FWIW: I listen to Laura Ingraham, Rush, and (some of) Sean and NPR but, (if you realize their slant) NPR is a pretty good news source.

They take the time to cover stuff others don't and, lets-face-it, not every story has to have a political slant. The JFR story is a pretty good example (and they've done other Drag Racing stories <mostly Sportsman> in year's past).

Unlike too many liberals and some conservatives, I'm not afraid of divergent views. God gave me free will and some modicum of brain power.
