DON SCHUMACHER RACING TO HOST WOMEN’S BREAKFAST WITH SHIRLEY MULDOWNEY

CLERMONT, Ind. (Aug. 31, 2007) - Don Schumacher Racing will host an unprecedented gathering of female drag racers, helping three-time National Hot Rod Association champion Shirley Muldowney celebrate not only the silver anniversary of her U.S. Nationals victory but the progress of participation by women in those 25 years.

Champ Car Atlantic Series Director Vicki O’Connor and USAC midget champion Sondi Eden will attend the 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, morning event at the DSR hospitality area at O'Reilly Raceway Park, as well as Deb Turner, representing Lyn St. James' Women in the Winner's Circle Foundation.

"The idea for the breakfast began as an intimate gathering of drivers, because I honestly haven’t had a chance to get to know most of the female drivers and riders," Muldowney said. "Then we thought it shouldn’t be restricted to just drivers, as many women are involved in key positions in the sport. And I am incredibly grateful to Don Schumacher and his organization that he and they are supporting the advancement of women in motorsports."

Pro Stock Motorcycle riders Angelle Sampey, Peggy Llewellyn, and Karen Stoffer will be among the guests, along with Funny Car’s Ashley Force, Top Fuel’s Hillary Will, Pro Modified’s Candyce Marsh, sportsman racers Kate Harker and Diana Harker, and Muldowney contemporary Bunny Burkett.
