I have seen numerous comments in here about how Motorsports with the under 25 crowd has been dying fast! If that is the case, who is SEMA marketing too, 40-50+ year old racers or Car owners?

Joe, What Does S.E.M.A. stand for?

Don't believe JQ Public is the target of the show, more like Mfg to distributors/warehousing to Parts/tool/ Equipment resalers...

JQ public is not the target of the show. And it is getting increasingly harder each year for an average car guy who is not employed by an auto related business to attend. Have a young lady friend who actually does help us out at some shows and I could not get her a credential without pay stubs.

I know John Q Public isn't the target, but somebody has to purchase the products marketed? I keep hearing it isn't the younger crowd!

Because of health reasons I haven't been to SEMA since 2002. At that time if you were a business involved in the automotive aftermarket you could get tickets for the whole week for a robust fee of 10.00 if you signed up early. The last show I attended they were leading into the import industry pretty heavy.

Speciality Equipment Manufacturers Association. Used to be Speed Equipment Manufacturers Assotiation, but they changed the name when they started to allow neon wiper blades, etc in to it.

Jay.... Was in the automotive Paint/Parts/ Equipment Industry for 35 years... The question was did JOE KNOW?

Jay,
It's actually worse than that. The M now stands for Marketing, not Manufacturing.

When dinos still ruled the earth it was the Safety Equipment Manufacturers Association. Speed and safety equipment is now about as relevant at the SEMA show as the constitution is to Obama. It is all about marketing mostly dress up products to wholesalers and retailers . You will have to listen very carefully to hear the word "performance" mentioned at all.

^^^That was true maybe 10 years ago, but not since then. They've done a great job, IMO, in restoring performance products to this event.

When was the last time you attended?

Yes, they put it all in one section. Tires and wheels are in a separate room, same with body shop stuff, etc. PRI show made them clean up their act.
