Easter Sunday??

DIVISION 7 EVENT LOCATION CHANGED
The Agent has heard from multiple sources that it is now confirmed that the Division 7 event to be held at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana originally scheduled for April 24-26 is being moved to the Strip at Las Vegas. According to Chris Blair, the Divisional race will now be held on April 10-12, the weekend following the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals. The new Vegas Divisional schedule shows a Super Gas/Super Comp Shootout on Thursday, April 9, and the Alcohol classes will qualify on Friday with Saturday eliminations. Sportsman class eliminations will conclude on Sunday, April 12.
This move should be a money saver for Pacific Division racers because, according to Vegas track manager Blair, they’ll be able to park rigs free after the Summit backed NHRA National event and return for the Divisional event a few days later.
Blair added, “We are also making accommodations for any Sportsman racers who need a place to park their race rigs between the Fontana Jeg’s SportsNationals (April 16-19) and the Boise NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor NHRA Division 6 event on May 1-3 to make it easier on travel.” [02/19/09]

Don't they go through this every year with Fontana?? The last 3 years they've scheduled a D-7 race, then move it!

Second NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event added to 2009 schedule at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

LAS VEGAS –
Officials for The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, Calif., and the National Hot Rod Association’s Pacific Division announced a major schedule change today for the NHRA’s 2009 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. The Auto Club Dragway event, originally scheduled for April 24-26, now will be hosted by The Strip at LVMS and has been rescheduled for April 10-12.

“This schedule change will benefit not only The Strip at LVMS and Auto Club Dragway, but it also will be a tremendous economical savings for the sportsman racers who support this series," said Chris Blair, LVMS’ vice president of racing operations. "Racers will now be able to compete in back-to-back events at LVMS – the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals on April 2-5 and the Lucas Oil Series event on April 10-12 – before towing to Auto Club Dragway on April 17-19 for the NHRA Sports Nationals.”

Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events at The Strip at LVMS have attracted as many as 992 sportsman racing entries and are the largest races on the series’ 43-race divisional schedule. The Strip at LVMS also will also host a second Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event on Nov. 5-8.

“This agreement between LVMS, Auto Club Dragway and NHRA's Pacific Division applies only to the 2009 season,” Blair explained. “We have always worked closely with the management of the Auto Club Dragway and welcomed the opportunity to host their Lucas Oil Series event. This schedule change does not affect Auto Club Dragway's NHRA Sports Nationals which will be contested, as scheduled, on April 17-19.”

The Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car segment of the event will be contested as a 2-day show with three rounds of qualifying on Friday with runs scheduled at 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car eliminations will take place on Saturday evening with elimination rounds at 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and the alcohol finals at 9 p.m. On Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11 LVMS will offer a special $15 per carload general admission (no pit area access) spectator promotion.

The Strip at LVMS will release a revised 2009 schedule on Monday, March 2, as many dates for the E.T. Bracket Championship and Jr. Drag Racing Series have been adjusted to accommodate this event and other facility activities.

That’s so frustrating……This weekend the roundy-round boys are in town (Fontana) and they will make noise for HOURS on end. Granted 40 Stock cars isn’t like just 1 nitro burner – but come on! I wanted to be at the Heritage Series with the Old Nitro Floppers……..but NO – the NIMBY folks cry to the local politicians. Now Fontana can be a bit short on stopping area – I still would have loved the see TAD and TA/FC at Fontana. :(

Sonovab!tch. I really wanted to see the alky cars.
You know, I was out there a couple of weeks back and looked beyond the traintracks.
I can see the houses right there. It's probably them complaining about the noise.

It's all Mike English's fault!! He and Chris Blair have obviously convinced Mike Rice that all Division 7 Sportsman racers are independently wealthy, and don't have to work. Why else would they start out with Firebird National, Firebird Divisional, Tucson Divisional back to back to back, and only 3 weeks later run the Vegas National, Vegas Divisional, and Fontana Sportnational back to back to back. Simply insane!! 6 of the best, and closest races for a guy in Phoenix, crammed into a 9 week period.
That's 1245$ just in Entry fees..not to mention showing your boss a 9 week schedule with about 8-12 days blacked out.
