after the run bob said i wanted to burn down both cars so he cant win the second round. did his slow staging cause hagen to burn a piston in the lights ??? great strategy bob!!! according to the tivo- from the time hagen body was raised after the burnout to leaving the green light was 70 seconds!!!. same time frame for force was 50 seconds -hagen motor was running 20 seconds more!!!

Please explain to me how it was Bob III's responsibility to stage first? My understanding is the only rule governing staging is that both sets of pre-stage lights must be lit before either of the competitors "stages".

Also, I may be wrong, but I believe Bob III said He "would have" burned both cars down.. Meaning he would have done anything he can to help out John.. I have no problem with his statement or his strategy. I would have objected to an outright "dive" but I did not see that happen.

Bob III's strategy could have just as easily cost him the run from a burned pistion or overheating the clutch, etc. Was there a mental "breakdown" from the "games" played at the light.. Considering Matt left on him (.061 to .066) and led the race until the motor gave out, I would think that was not the case.

Hagan's car hurt a piston during qualifying, and seems to have done the same thing on that run.

Right.. Asher blew it in his story too.

Tasca rolled in within a second of Matt going in.

They both sat pre-staged a long time is all.

A burndown takes two cars not wanting to stage, not just one thanks to the autostart.

And?? The original post askes if Tasca being slow to stage caused Hagan to burn up. Tasca was not slow to stage. Asher said the same thing- Tasca sat on Hagan, and it's just not true.

My understanding is the only rule governing staging is that both sets of pre-stage lights must be lit before either of the competitors "stages".

To clarify the rule, "courtesy staging" is only required in certain sportsman classes. To wit:

Registered member said:
When staging in Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, or Competition Eliminator categories, both contestants must activate their pre-stage lights before either may advance into the stage beams.

In all other classes, notably all the pro classes, "double-bulbing" is allowed. FWIW, those same classes (except Comp) also prohibit "deep staging" - turning out the pre-stage bulb.

With respect to the timing of it all, the only mention of time is as follows:

Registered member said:
A reasonable amount of time will be permitted for drivers to stage. The time limit will be determined at the sole and absolute discretion of the official starter. Failure to stage upon the starter’s instructions is possible grounds for disqualification.

Hope this is clear.

I put it into urban dictionary and it said that a snooker was a hooker that resembled snookie
