Alexis was the #17 qualifier and replaced Ken Webster, whose car was destroyed in a qualifying incident, in his #6 qualifying spot in the field. This is normal procedure in the alcohol classes at both National and Divisional races if a qualified competitor is unable to return for the first round of eliminations. If Alexis had chosen not to participate the #18 qualifier would have been asked next and so on. You do not earn points at all as an alternate and, as I understand it, you also do not recieve round money for the first round. I believe if you win first round, as Alexis did, you do recieve round money from that point on. As Pete said, no it is not allowed in the pro classes. Hope that explains it better.
