DAVID POWERS Q&A

PITTSBORO, Ind. (Oct. 11, 2007) – Team owner David Powers discusses the future of his two-car Top Fuel operation:

Q: Will the Matco Tools dragster be competing at Las Vegas and Pomona (Calif.)?
POWERS: Absolutely we will be there. We’re trying to come up with the best driver possible that we can put in the car and have a shot at winning those two races and helping Rod Fuller run for the championship.

Q: When do you expect to name a temporary driver for the Las Vegas and Pomona races?
POWERS: Hopefully no later than the middle of next week.

Q: Will it be the same driver for the 2008 NHRA POWERade season?
POWERS: No.

Q: When do you plan on announcing a full-time driver for the Matco car?
POWERS: No later than the Auto Club Finals at Pomona.

Q: What is the team’s current focus?
POWERS: We were the only multi-car team to have two cars in the Countdown to the Championship. Now, we have one car in the Countdown to 1 with Rod Fuller and the Caterpillar team. Obviously, our focus is to win the championship and the Technicoat Shootout with Rod. On the other hand, we still have the opportunity to put the Matco Tools dragster in the winner’s circle this year. That’s our current direction.

Q: What’s the future of David Powers Motorsports?
POWERS: Let’s take a quick look back. Two years ago, we were a one-car team that was privately financed. We progressed to a top-five contender in 2006. We expanded to a two-car team with the Matco Tools sponsorship this year and worked hard in securing the Caterpillar sponsorship for Rod Fuller’s car over the next few years. Looking ahead, we feel that 2008 and beyond will be great years for our organization. We have two great companies like Matco and CAT as our primary sponsors and we’ll surround them with a solid group of associate partners. We’re also nearing completion of a new state-of-the-art facility in Brownsburg (Ind.) that we’ll move into following the 2007 season. We couldn’t be more excited about the future of our operation.
