darana - dunn (galot) event

I love though giant scoreboards they have. I shudder to think what they must have cost.
Galot has been a nice facility for a while. The track was built in the early 2000’s so it’s on par with Vegas and Charlotte although it’s a smaller facility.

Not many people there at all, but it is a Friday. Hopefully there's a good crowd tomorrow. The track looks like it's a decent facility. The biggest problem I see is the show just takes forever, it's 9:15 and top fuel is still going.
More than can be seen on tv. Racers very excited about 2026 especially nitro. They all anticipate a points fund. Glad to see Jeff Deihls here with Jacob driving. Track is great, everything new. Will come back next year for sure.

If they ran out of parking with the stands only a 1/3 full, they need more parking. That appeared to be by far the most people who have shown up to a IHRA race this year. I enjoyed what I saw this weekend, really good racing for the most part. All the anti 1,000ft people must really hate racing to 660.

I don’t know who the announcers on the sportsman eliminations are but they are not ready for prime time

As long as there is 1000ft and 1/4 mile racing I won’t go to a 1/8 mile event. I understand why the last few IHRA events are 1/8 mile but I won’t spend money to travel to one.

I saw aaron brooks there with a capco fleece, maybe some changes next year or maybe just a fleece lol???

Many people were walking around. Lots more families than at Vegas the week before. Nobody there cared of it was 1/8 mile. 50000$ is 50000$. Many IHRA workers were at our hotel, all said it's a long term plan, the racers can decide for themselves where to run. From what we heard on the pits, there's going to be lots of surprises next year as to who shows up. We will be back next year. But there is no Uber here, had to use car service.

was watching the utube stream most of the weekend, but noticed their eliminations stream yesterday cut off
right before the last few finals ...... congrats to kyle s. and leverich racing on their big win yesterday!
was watching leigh mcmillen hubbard's post race wrap-up and she mentioned a very emotional kyle after his win.
would like to watch that interview if anyone knows where to find it? ...... pretty funny, kyle let the F bomb go earlier yesterday too.

I don’t know who the announcers on the sportsman eliminations are but they are not ready for prime time
but IMO they understand the sportsman numbers better than kenny and tj do. they are able to describe a run on r.t. and the line,
and relay the package a racer laid down, and how an opponent may or may not have been mathematically locked out of a win.

The event was great. The track was great. We qualified our Fuel Altered #7 on the ladder. Where else can one find a place to race that pays out $5K just to qualify ?? Besides that at 8 a.m. each morning in comes a group of open bed trucks and a dozen workers bring Two large bags of ice to each pit, Free, with the owner of IHRA hustling on the ground helping ferry those ice bags to each pit as well ?? Not to mention the Free sit down dinner for at least a thousand people both Thursday and Friday evening ??
