(6-20-2011) BRISTOL, Tennessee – Amid a tumultuous weekend of racing at the Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee, Danny Rowe and the Sterling Bridge Pro Modified team inched closer to their goal of leading the Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series point standings with a final round appearance for the second straight race.

Although the final round on Sunday evening at the beautiful Bristol Dragway didn’t end in quite the positive fashion it did two weeks prior at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, Rowe and company could hardly argue with two consecutive trips to the final round, as well as the points earned for doing so. Facing Melanie Troxel in her twin-turbocharged ’53 Corvette out of the R2B2 Racing stable, Rowe pushed the action the starting line a little bit too much and lit the red-light.

“What can you say about a weekend like this,” asks Rowe, once again breaking out his trademark smile. “Melanie [Troxel] and that turbocharged R2B2 Corvette have been running very well, and while we have had a very consistent and fast race car, I was up on the wheel there in the final and got a little overzealous and left too early. Hey, it happens – especially when you need every little bit you can get, and everywhere you can get it.

“Taking out K.A. Balooshi in the semis – I have to admit – was a real victory for this Sterling Bridge team, and while we certainly wanted to win, go two for two out here, we made a lot of ground this weekend as far as the championship point standings are concerned. Taking out the points leader in the semis was huge for us and gives us a lot of confidence and momentum moving forward.”

With this second straight final round appearance, Rowe moves with 48 points of the Khalid Balooshi in the No. 1 position.

“Jimmy Rector and this phenomenal Sterling Bridge team continue to give me a great race car and we’re doing what we have to do, and that is go rounds on Sunday,” Rowe continues. “With every round win we’re moving one step closer to our goal of winning the Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series championship. That’s been our stated goal since the beginning and we’re going to continue to work hard and do what it takes to get the job done.

“We’re headed right back to the drag strip again this coming weekend and we’re going to have the opportunity to keep this streak alive in Norwalk, Ohio. It’s getting pretty interesting – there isn’t a car in the field that can’t win. With a little luck we’ll be talking about a third straight final in a few days; maybe even being No. 1 in the points.”

The Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will get return to the quarter-mile on Friday, June 24th, with two qualifying sessions scheduled for 4:15 PM and 5:30. Qualifying continues on Saturday, June 25th, at 1:45 PM and the opening round of eliminations at 3:15. Final eliminations will begin on Sunday, June 26th, at 11:00 AM.
