NHRA® Team Report
NHRA Fall Nationals – Dallas
Pre-Race Report
Cruz Pedregon has had three of his most epic wins in Dallas, and this weekend he'll be going for another victory when the team debuts a new breast cancer awareness paint scheme for the month of October. "El Cucuy may mean 'the boogieman,' but this month it will be a frighteningly good guy when we push the Snap-on Toyota and generate exposure for The Pink Fund and its important work" Cruz says. "Snap-on and our team support the mission of The Pink Fund to provide for non-medical living expenses of breast cancer patients undergoing the fight of their lives…like transportation, utilities and housing."
Crew Chief DeLago says, "As a team, we're all excited about the good we'll be doing this month, to bring awareness of The Pink Fund, and starting it in Dallas at a winning track for Cruz is a great way to kick it off. We're finding our groove, and we plan to finish out the season strong."
Founder of The Pink Fund, Molly MacDonald, a breast cancer survivor who founded the organization after her own breast cancer treatment experience, will be in the pit this weekend with Cruz. The car body will feature a Snap-on "Socket to Breast Cancer" logo in light pink with a sleek black background. "It's always fun to have Molly with us at the track and her organization, The Pink Fund is doing such great work to provide up to 90 days and $3,000 for the non-medical needs of breast cancer patients. Our primary sponsor Snap-on is making an initial $50,000 donation and The Pink Fund will receive additional funds generated through Snap-on sales promotions," Cruz says. "We hope everyone watching at the track will stop by to meet Molly and have their picture taken with the car. And, we hope fans watching at home on FOX will check out the organization online at Pinkfund.org"
On the side of Cruz's car –
Check Cruz's car this week, and you'll see the name of area Snap-on Nitro Franchisee Patrick McQuay. He was an automotive painter before he decided to invest in his franchise. He says he fell in love with the business and really enjoys getting to work with guys and cars all day long. He rides motorcycles and is into all kinds of sports in his spare time. Patrick says he likes watching Funny Cars because "the amount of horsepower these drivers are throwing down is crazy."
