NHRA® Team Report
NHRA Carolina Nationals – Charlotte
Pre-Race Report
Consistent runs and besting three countdown contenders so far has Cruz Pedregon and team feeling confident about the weekend ahead in Charlotte. “We’re all experiencing that excitement of heading back to the track that redefined this season for us as a team earlier this year. Winning the four-wide in Charlotte last spring was such an adrenaline boost, and we’re bringing that energy back with us to the Carolina Nationals,” Cruz says. “Shout out to Tommy (Delago), Glen (Huzar) and this quality group of guys for the work they’re doing that’s getting the car to respond consistently and taking us rounds on race day.”
Crew Chief DeLago says, "With a spring Charlotte win and a Round 1 win last weekend, we’re in a good place for getting Cruz his 37th Funny Car victory and finishing out the season with another Wally in the case."
The Snap-on Toyota will continue to feature a pink and black Snap-on "Socket to Breast Cancer" paint scheme and crew shirts, in support of The Pink Fund, through the month of October. Cruz says it’s important to him to perform well, especially this month, when the team’s new El Cucuy body is decked out in pink, “Even though the new body is named ‘the boogieman,' we mean for it to be the hero in scaring off some of the non-medical expenses of patients undergoing breast cancer treatment, such as transportation, utilities and housing, that are covered by The Pink Fund.”
On the side of Cruz's car –
Check Cruz's car this week, and you'll see the name of area Snap-on Nitro Franchisee Michael Stup. Michael spent over a decade in manufacturing before becoming a Snap-on franchisee. He says owning his own business was something he always wanted to do, and he really enjoys the wide variety of people he meets along his Snap-on route. He’s a big fan of the Funny Cars, and he’ll get to see his name on one this weekend.
