COMMERCE, Ga. - For Troy Critchley, driver of the fastest Pro Modified car in the world, it's not enough to be second place, and the Australian native is hoping to make a strategic move up the points ladder this weekend as the AMS Staff Leasing Pro Modified Challenge presented by Tindle Enterprises, Inc. contests its third event at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway.
Less than four round-wins behind teammate Josh Hernandez, Critchley said he's hoping to move up in points behind the wheel of his AMS-Rage 1970 Barracuda Pro Mod.
"For the first time in a long time, we've got this 'Cuda running really well, and even though it's our teammate in front of us, we definitely want to move up in points here in the next couple of races," Critchley said.
"I'm really excited because I know coming in to this event that we've got a great hotrod and that we've worked out the issues we'd been having with the clutch, so we'll be in good shape," he said.
Qualifying in the third of ten events in the AMS Pro Mod Challenge is scheduled for 3:15 and 6:15 p.m. on Friday, April 27 and at 11:15 a.m. Saturday morning. Eliminations are scheduled to begin at 2:15 p.m. Saturday and conclude on Sunday, April 29.
