TULSA, Okla. (June 27, 2007) Dale Creasy Jr. and his Torco Racing Fuels Nitro Funny Car team scored their fifth career victory at the Skull Shine Sooner Nationals. It also marks the second win for the Creasy Family Motorsports team and his seventh round win this season.
"The only thing that could have ruined this thing today was the driver," Creasy said in an IHRA DRM interview. "My crew did a tremendous job. After the first run we didn't like the way the motor looked. We didn't hurt it but the crew didn't like something about it. They changed it and 40 minutes later it was running great. These guys are the best. My crew and Evan Knoll. I just got off the phone with him and he's ecstatic. I love the guy and he has done everything for me."
Creasy wouldn't have an easy path to victory. The Creasy-Wyatt rivalry would continue in the semi-finals when Dale and Jack met again with just three points separating them on the leader board. Dale would take victory in a close race and set up a final round appearance with Andy Kelly. Creasy would save the best for last, laying down his best pass of the event and opening up a 45 point margin between himself and Jack Wyatt.
"It's going to be exciting all summer," Creasy explained. "It seems Jack is always right there, but with Terry Haddock and Jon Capps full time over here and now with Andy Kelly stepping up it's going to be a fight to the finish. With Jack and I finishing so close in points last season, it's got us all counting points and 'banking free oil downs' [10 clean passes equals one free black flag penalty].
The next stop for Creasy is the CARS RV & Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by Torco Race Fuels at the Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta Canada July 6-8. Creasy will be defending his event win in Edmonton last season.
