Creasy Holds Top Spot After Rockingham

Rockingham, N.C. (April 23, 2007)- The Torco Race Fuels Nitro Funny car continued to win rounds at the Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam Spring Nationals. While Dale Creasy and his team didn't walk away with the event win, they feel they solved some problems at the "Rock".

"I think we had a good weekend," commented Creasy. "We fixed our engine problem and the thing is an animal now. We want to make it as consistent as last year's car with the potential to go faster. We've got about 13 runs on this new car, we've got it where we want it now. We just want to make the best showing that we can for team Torco and Evan Knoll."

Despite working through issues on the new car, the Torco team was able to qualify third with a 5.069 ET at 302.35MPH, setting up a first round showdown with Mitch King. Creasy would get a bye when King couldn't make the call Sunday morning, setting up a semi-final matchup with Jon Capps. About 200 feet into the semi-final run, the Torco machine experienced a broken drive shaft, sending Capps to his first final round and Creasy to the trailer.

Still, the successful weekend gave Creasy a reason to be excited.

"We are ahead of pace for last year. At this point last year we had not won a round," commented Creasy after the race. "That puts us two or three rounds ahead of last year, which is a good thing because everybody seems to be ahead of last year." After two events, Creasy holds a slim three point margin over Jack Wyatt.

"I think this is going to be a better race (for a championship) than last year. There are more cars involved," says the defending Nitro Funny Car Champion. "This year it is going to be a lot of fun."
