Courtney poses to help find new sponsors?

With the news of Ford pulling out of the nitro classes. I can not help but to wonder if this influenced Courtney's decision to pose for ESPN. Her magazine cover is just the ticket to show how popular her image would be for a future sponsor.

I think she could have found something more favoring a family oriented sport .
I don't think it's a negative [ guys no doubt are drooling ] but Drag Racing is still the largest Grassroots Motorsports and has a large family participation ratio .
No doubt she will be alright it's just not the image Women in Drag Racing need .
You can look pretty scantily clothed .
I understand the Body thing was the object of the shoot but what does it have to do with Drag Racing ?
And who wants to see Scelzi do something like that .
It could set the sport back 50 years !

It could have had just the opposite effect. When I worked at Ford HQ years ago Ford was a VERY conservative company. They were protective of the family image they projected. MANY companies are concerned about the image they and their representatives project. They want no part of controversy even if it draws attention. Some will follow this post and say it isn't so. Don't believe. Not all companies are like Go Daddy. Some still have conservative values and want no part of their representative posing nude.

I have not seen the photos but I applaud her, even though I root ardently against her on Sunday. Much like Hofmann or Bazemores excercising of free speech , or even the Pedregons vs. Force ordeal, she made a decision to do something and could careless about the critics.

So Courtney posing for ESPN is why Ford is pulling out of drag racing? Thanks Courtney for ruining it for everybody! :D

Did it help the Grump land any sponsors?

I've been hearing a lot of chatter here in Sonoma media tower that Ford is pulling out of drag racing and that includes the Force team. :(

Some could argue the drag racing's golden era was the 70's, when it was decidedly NOT a family sport-Linda Vaughan on the Hurst Olds, no race track preachers, no corporate empty suit drivers, the Connie Kalitta/Ed McCullough charm school, etc. Is it any coincidence that most of the classic bench racing stories come from that era.

What kind of stories will come from this era? "Remember the time I got a latte instead of a mocha in the airport after Epping?"

You need to see the photos and video before commenting.

She might care if the "critics" are the folks in the board room.

Marketing toys to kids (radio control stuff) by someone not concerned about being a good role model to kids will likely bite you in the bare a$$ some day.

Nah, Joe, I think even 20 years from now the stories will be dull in comparison. I'm with Ron Capps, I think I was born 20 yrs too late...

Which came first the pose or the Ford decision? I didn't think that photo layout was a great idea. A swim suit issue OK, but that was a little much.

Courtney and John made it very clear that all of there sponsors were made aware of this deal and all thought it was a good thing.
I'm suprised that there are still some on here that will not let it go!
