GRAND BEND, ONTARIO (AUGUST 2, 2011) – Presently sitting at the top of the Pro Bike & Sled Series Championship Point Award Series Standings presented by Wiseco Performance Products with 677 points, Randy Hope said he will be concentrating on consistency for round four in the 2011 PBSS tour during the Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals presented by Ideal Supply & NAPA Auto Parts August 4-7 at the Grand Bend Motorplex.

“Our strategy is to be consistent,” said the London Ontario Pro Bike rider, who races a 1978 Kawasaki. “We haven’t played with the bike too much other than some minor changes to the aerodynamics of the bike.”

Hope has an event win to his credit, and was the finalist on the Pro Bike side in a second race this season. His also went to the quarter-final in the third event. He has qualified well with a pair of number threes, and a fourth qualifying position to date.

The PBSS is a drag race series which is comprised of motorcycles and snowmobiles, racing under Sportsman-style race conditions. The Pro Bike racers are matched up as a group, as well as the Pro Sled competitors, and the finalist from each side goes up against each other in an event final.

Second in points is James Miller of Orillia, Ontario with 658 points on his Yamaha Pro Nytro Pro Sled. The 2010 Proline Pro Sled of Dave Marshall of Prescott, Ontario is third with 640 points. Bill Anderson, who rides his Arctic Cat Pro Sled out of Seaforth, is fourth with 617 points, and rounding out the top five is Dan Cryderman of Thamesville, Ontario, and the Raceworks Suzuki rider is sitting with 600 points.

Hope and the rest of the PBSS racers will be doing battle at Grand Bend this weekend, the first race of the 2011 season to be held at the track. This popular annual race will feature rounds in the two companion series to the PBSS, the Pro Modified Racing Association, and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series.

The weekend will also feature Nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars, Ike Maier in the Paton Racing Top Fueler, wheelstander and jet car action, and two top Alcohol Funny Cars, the Larry Dobb's car and Cassandra Simonton driving the Kon Rodz Racing entry of Spiro Kontos.

Hope said he is pleased with the new series, and looks forward to racing at Grand Bend.

“Grand Bend is like going home for me,” he said. “And I’m really enjoying the series. It’s real competitive.”
