Consistency pays for T.J. Zizzo with a win at the Rock

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (April 23, 2007) - The Race News Magazine Top Fuel team rolled into Rockingham focused on being number one in the Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam standings. As the sun set Sunday afternoon, the result were apparent; their first "Iron Man" of 2007 and an early season 45 point lead in the standings.

"This feels great," commented T.J. Zizzo after the race. "In San Antonio I needed a little luck and a great team to make it into the final round. This race was truly a drivers race."

Entering the weekend the team knew that consistency would be the key to their success. For Zizzo and crew, consistency was the word during the finals as they ran 4.77 ET's in the final two passes to bring home the victory.

"It was consistent this weekend... but it (car) is hurting itself a little," laughed Tony Zizzo.

Zizzo found himself on the bump spot before the final round ended, but the Race News team came through with a 4.643ET at 319.29 MPH to earn a spot as the number three qualifier.

Once in the finals Zizzo was confident he could get the car down the track with a chance to win.

"During the run I expected it to shake like it had done in earlier rounds. Needless to say it didn't," said a smiling Zizzo after the race. "It went through there nice and easy and I was able to stay on it and get down the track. It was a great win for my team. I like winning one for the crew because they usually win it for me."

Even with early season successes, Zizzo and his crew know why they're atop the standings - Race News Magazine.

"Let's face it, Race News Magazine is fantastic," says Zizzo. "We couldn't do this without Race News Magazine - they make this possible. It was great to see all those Race News red hats and shirts in the stands. We just talked to the guys in California and they are happy and looking forward to Tulsa."

The team knows it is back to work once they return to the Zizzo race shop but for now they will enjoy the win.

"It feels great," says Tony Zizzo. "You can't go wrong opening the season with a final round appearance [San Antonio] and a win [Rockingham]."
