Connolly's 6.721-second time at 204.20 mph came Friday night and he came back with consistent runs of 6.751 and 6.752 seconds Saturday. The latter lap was third-quickest of the afternoon.
"We had trouble with a clutch disc in our first run (Saturday) and had to put in a new clutch," said Connolly, "and the results were pretty good."
Connolly faces Bob Panella (14th, 6.759 seconds) in Sunday's opening round of the season's penultimate event.
