Just checked out the results of Friday night qualifying. Only 4 nitro cars made it down the track under 4 seconds? Only Hagan, DeJoria and Capps in funny car? It got worse in Top Fuel, then Steve-o runs that 3.77 in poor conditions? Holy smokes, that's GOOD!

That Steve Torrence run was jaw dropping! They have ran a little faster before but as you said the conditions were poor. I’m amazed that anyone can be that dominant in today’s top fuel.

The car counts are really depressing. 13 funnies, 10 top fuel cars, 9 Pro Mods and the Pro Stocks got to take a vacation. And at 76 degrees ambient temperature in Q1 plus Bandimere's chilled starting line you'd think more than one Top Fueler would run in the 3s. The Mile High Nationals used to be a must-attend event despite its challenges. So what happened?

I think the racetrack was better then the racecars most of them left ok but if u don't keep that momentum going and take too much timing out
especially at nite it will shake if the sun was out i bet most of them would of made it past that spot ...tomorrow will b better and no matter what
everybody runs on Sunday !! 🏁🏁 👍

My guess would be sponsors are concerned about more problems from COVID, been a really messed up year

13 Fuel Diggers. Laughlin, Passey didn't make it pass the water box. Pruett broke on the burnout.
14 Floppers. Not sure if Chris King even tried to run. Haddock didn't run. I fell asleep for about 10 minutes during FC.
watching NHRA TV. It's a bitch getting old!
YES really depressing!!! car counts
Sonoma rite now only 12 Top Fuel cars. Funnies are looking good 19 cars. Thanks to the 6 West Coast flopper teams.
Wonder if NHRA is giving the fans at Denver a discount on tickets for low car counts? NOT

Chris King attempted to run but had to shut off prior to the burnout. Bandimere has had low car counts for years. The good years would usually give us 17 TF cars and maybe 19 FC cars. This was expected due to the lower number of touring cars this year. Three top 10 fuel cars opted not to run Bandimere (Billy, Ashley and Hart), otherwise we would have had a full TF field. This has been a problem for years in Denver and tracks that are up North. Seems like Epping, Seattle and Brainard are usually in the same boat.
The fans didn’t seem to care too much. I didn’t hear any rumblings from anyone around us about having only one session and short fields. Today is a complete sellout on the pitside of the track and seats only remain on the top end of the spectator side. It could be a legit sellout today where they may have to turn away fans.

Looks like Billy and Hart are going to skip Sonoma too.

As far as I know, Billy was never a full pull car like Steve's, and Hart is brand new and wasn't planning a full pull but rather is building his program toward that.

With only 2-3 qualifiers at most races this year, I noticed a shift in how these teams make these runs. Seems that the bigger teams are being more conservative on the Friday night runs, trying not to overpower the track...thus, going into weak shake and losing the run. Hogan/Lagana don't seem to employ this method
