BRISTOL, Tenn. (May 21) -- Pro Mod racer Raymond Commisso is the latest recipient of the New York Motorsports Top Speed Award after reaching 242.32 mph during last weekend's eighth annual O'Reilly Thunder Valley NHRA Nationals. This was the fourth time in five JEGS ProMod Challenge events that Commisso had the fastest hot rod.
Fellow Pro Mod racer David Hance started the New York Motorsports Top Speed Award prior to the St. Louis event. Danny Rowe won the first award and $500 cash bonus. Commisso is the second racer to collect the check.
"I want to thanks David for this award and check," Commisso said. "We've got a great hot rod and we love to run the big speeds. I think the fans like it also, so to have an extra incentive like this to push us all a little harder is exciting. It's great for the class. Hopefully, I can earn a few more before we're done.
"I credit my crew chief, Al Billes, for the reason behind our success. He has our ProCare Rx R2B2 Racing Firebird running very strong at the moment."
The next stop for the JEGS ProMod Challenge comes June 19-22 with the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J.
