MOHNTON, Pa. -- It is off to Maple Grove Raceway for Cruz Pedregon and the Advance Auto Parts/ Solara team this weekend. Reading, Pennsylvania has been a stop on the NHRA circuit since 1985 but this is only the second time it has been scheduled in August. Cruz has had success at this event in the past with wins in both 1992 and 1994, plus a final round finish in 2003. Reading is the last event before Indianapolis which marks the beginning of the Countdown to 1. Because of the team's hard work and consistent car all year, they are sitting fourth in the POWERade points and have clinched a spot in the top 10!
This weekend is also the last chance to qualify for Indy's U.S. Smokeless Showdown and its $100,000 grand prize. The team is 6th right now for this pro bonus series, and they are sure to make the eight car challenge.
"This is really my favorite time of year, and we are right in the mix, right where we want to be." said Cruz, "We've taken what we learned from Brainerd and made some adjustments for this weekend." He added, "We have what it takes and now we just got to go out and do it!" If you can't make it out to Reading this weekend you can still stay updated.
